How the OnePlus 8 Pro and 8 are the smartphones’ speed leaders

I joined OnePlus a bit late than most tech enthusiasts. My first Oneplus device was the Oneplus 6 which was an amazing smartphone for the price, was always updated on time and remained fast till today but the camera was a huge letdown. After the 6, I got the Oneplus 7 Pro 5G which had a better camera and is my current driver. Like every other member of the Oneplus family, I was excited about the launch of the OnePlus 8 series. Here are my favourite features of these new devices

The Display

The screen is the portal to your smartphone, it is what you look at every time you pick up your phone. The Oneplus 8 series come with high refresh 120Hz (for the 8 Pro) and 90Hz (for the 8) fluid displays which gives a smooth experience. It is difficult to describe a high refresh rate display, you really need to experience it or learn more about it on the addition magazine refresher course. The OnPlus 8 Pro screen size is 6.78 inches and the 8 has 6.55 inches, both are QHD+ AMOLED curved displays which offer an immersive experience especially for media consumption.

The Design

With every smartphone looking alike nowadays (they are just glass sandwiches), there is less space to judge the design. The curved display meets the curvature of the back of the phone forming a seamless design similar to the OnePlus 7 pro. The back is a frosted glass which gives a matte like feeling with 3 colour options for both the 8 and 8 Pro.

Warp Charge 30 Wireless

For years, I have been missing wireless charging on OnePlus devices. The incredibly fast charging of the phones could compensate, but sometimes I just wanted to leave my phone on a stand without thinking about plugging. Well, OnePlus has finally decided to add wireless charging to the Oneplus 8 Pro, but what I like the most about it is the speed of charging. Warp charge 30 wireless allows you to charge the Oneplus 8 Pro 4510mAh battery to 50% power in just 30 minutes. This is faster than every other popular device that supports wireless charging. This is great but it comes at the cost of buying the warp charge wireless stand made by OnePlus.

Oxygen OS

The most important characteristic of a device is its performance, specs matter less when the software is not optimised. This is one of the reasons why iOS devices perform well in spite of its low specs. There are several android powered smartphones which push boundaries in terms of specs but none of them come close to offer the speed on Oneplus devices. Oxygen OS offers the best user experience on any android device. It is unique and user-oriented as it gives users full power over their device with an advanced level of customisation like system-wide dark mode. The OnePlus 8 is powered by Oxygen OS 10 which is built on the latest version of Android 10, thus it comes with the best features of android 10 like privacy controls and the new gestures navigation along with its own proprietary one.
